It's cold!!!

As I write this at 8:30 a.m., it's -8 degrees outside, and yes - it's cold!

There's a lot of excitement in Denver because the Broncos are playing the Ravens this afternoon in the first playoff game, and the game is right here in sunny Denver!  Well - it's actually not sunny this morning, it's overcast, but the temperature might go up to about 15 degrees.  Last night there was a big pep rally at the stadium and thousands of crazy people fans were there to get all excited about today's game.  This morning all the stadium seats are covered with frost and the playing field is covered with a special tarp designed to keep the ground from freezing.  The players will be kept warm with special equipment, but the fans -- they're on their own!  But there will be emergency medical workers on hand in case of medical emergencies!

I wonder how many of these same crazy people fans would bother going to church if the temperature would be even at freezing!

It's all a matter of priorities!

My priority today is to stay warm and comfortable, although I have to admit that I agreed to join my daughter this afternoon for some shopping.  She has several hours to kill while her son is at a birthday party in this north end of the city, so I'll just bundle up really warm, turn on the seat heaters in the van and enjoy some together time.

If the Broncos win today, and I'm sure they will -- this city will go bonkers with excitement!  Already there are orange decorations everywhere you look.  Evidently if you buy have a player that is being paid $96 million over five years, you can be a contender for the superbowl trophy.

I wonder what else could be done with $96 million.....like bringing food to the starving in other countries (as well as our own); giving our police forces, our firemen, and our teachers salaries in line with the value of their work....

I have never been able to understand why professional athletes and Hollywood celebrities are paid such huge sums of money ..... and then so many of them are really terrible role models.
